HOW I STYLED MY NEW LINEN JUMPSUIT

Hello my dear readers, hope you are all well.
GREEN BELTED LINEN JUMPSUIT
This jumpsuit that I recently found in Myer department store was a totally accidental purchase.  In fact the reason I was there in the first place was because my younger daughter asked me to return some of her purchases that she didn't have time (they are all so busy) to do it herself.
GREEN BELTED LINEN JUMPSUIT
Besides, the Australian summer is almost at it's end and I was not going to buy anything that will have to wait another 6 months to be worn.  However, when I saw this fun looking green belted linen jumpsuit, I couldn't resist its bright print.  On top of that,  it was hugely discounted that tipped the purchase of it.
GREEN BELTED LINEN JUMPSUIT
There was one feature of it, though, that I was not sure about - thin spaghetti straps which usually  means that you can wear a decent bra underneath.  However, on a closer inspection I saw that the back panel of the jumpsuit was elastic that tightens up the fabric around your rib cage and keeps everything nicely tucked in place.  You know what I mean.
GREEN BELTED LINEN JUMPSUIT
It comes with the belt which is made out of the same fabric which I like, it also has side pockets and closes with a side zipper.  Tick, tick, tick.
I had a few ideas of what to wear with it and decided to go for the bold statement.  Thus I settled for the red colour shoes and a handbag.  If you look at the colour wheel, you will see that red and green sit right opposite each other and thus are called complimentary colours.  The best and most recognisable example of this winning combo would be the Christmas colour scheme.
GREEN BELTED LINEN JUMPSUIT
Sadly, these I don't wear these red suede shoes very often so I jumped on the opportunity to air them out.  My LV handbag is quite old, alas not vintage and goes perfectly with the shoes.  I like the playful vibe behind this outfit.  Wouldn't you agree?

Is a jumpsuit your cup of tea?  And if yes, would you prefer it to be in one solid colour or print?  Please share your thoughts in the comment section below.  I really value your opinions, my dear readers.

IT IS A JUNGLE OUT THERE - HOW I WORE MY ANIMAL PRINT TROUSER SUIT

Hello dear friends, hope you are doing well.

Two months of spring already behind us but the air is quite fresh and I won't leave the house without a jacket or a jumper to keep me warm.

HOW I WORE MY ANIMAL PRINT TROUSER SUIT

I bought this animal print pant suit from Zara at the beginning of Spring but haven't had a chance to share it with you.  This style is totally sold out but there are plenty of similar prints are still on offer like this animal print blazer and trousers . I was worried that I will not wear it often enough before the weather really heats up but I was wrong.

HOW I WORE MY ANIMAL PRINT TROUSER SUIT

It's 100% linen and we all know the multiple benefits of natural fibers.  The print is quite bold and busy as you can see, so not much embellishment in terms of accessories is actually required so I chose a simple black satin camisole to wear underneath the blazer and just a pair of simple silver earrings.

HOW I WORE MY ANIMAL PRINT TROUSER SUIT

Of course, I could've gone all monochromatic but it is spring and I wanted to have fun so I chose red platform shoes that I also bought recently on a whim.  I was in the shopping centre in a gloomy mood and when I saw those shoes through the window of Edward Meller shop in a happy red colour I felt irresistible urge to bring this feeling of happiness home.

HOW I WORE MY ANIMAL PRINT TROUSER SUIT

The heels are quite high but they are balanced by the thickness of the platform which levels the height and makes them feel very comfortable.  Honestly, I can't even remember when the last time was that I bought high heel shoes, it must've been years.

HOW I WORE MY ANIMAL PRINT TROUSER SUIT

I recently read an article about what makes French fashionistas look so effortlessly stylish , one of them being that French women prefer not to match their footwear with their handbags, but I like my version of matching accessories so the red shoes and a handbag it is.

HOW I WORE MY ANIMAL PRINT TROUSER SUIT

Where do you stand on wearing matching accessories?  Please share your thoughts in the comment section below.

Until then,

FLORAL PRINT SUMMER DRESS

Hi everyone, how are you?
FLORAL PRINT SUMMER DRESS
Although Australia is in the second month of autumn, we are absolutely blessed with the current weather .  The temperature is in the high 20's (Celsius scale) which equals to above 70F,  so we still wear short sleeves, shorts and sandals, and the parks and walkways are full of people engaged in all kind of activities:  walking, jogging, biking or just taking their dogs for a walk all the time trying to maintain social distancing, of course.
FLORAL PRINT SUMMER DRESS
It certainly helps to lift the boredom of lock-down that we all are subjected at the moment and helps us to stay active and positive.  However, the main beaches are closed for sunbathing and only open for a few hours a day so people can take a swim and go for a surf  in the strictly designated and patrolled parts of the beach and you can't just idly sit on a grass or on a bench and enjoy the sun and the smell of the ocean.  Yet, from what I hear about the lock-down rules in other countries across the globe, we are in a much better position, our restrictions are less severe and for that we should be grateful.
FLORAL PRINT SUMMER DRESS
Usually, around this time of a year, my summer dresses are all packed away till the next summer yet here I am in the middle of April dressed in my summer best😃.  I bought this dress on my last year's trip to Cape Town from a small shop that lined up in multitudes along the beach front of Cape Town when I spotted its bright happy print in a shop window.
FLORAL PRINT SUMMER DRESS
It buttons all the way on the front and has a soft belt made of the same fabric which effortlessly defines the waist without creating a distinctive line that visually cuts your body in half which quite often happens when the belt is made of one solid colour.
FLORAL PRINT SUMMER DRESS
Keeping up with the colourful palette of my dress, I chose yellow earrings and green bracelets for my accessories and since everyone is dressed casually these days, I decided to be otherwise and wore red high heel painted dress shoes instead.  I just refuse to let COVID-19  to take all the fun out of my life 😃😃😃.

Stay safe and keep well

I AM GIVING A COLD SHOULDER

Hi everyone,

For a reason unbeknownst to me, I was not going to just jump into the trend of cold shoulder tops except recently, while walking through the maze of shops of  the Westfield shopping centre, I spotted this bright red blouse with a floral detail hanging in the window of  a Witchery store.
Cold shoulder floral top, black skinny jeans, red shoes
If you are regular reader, you know how much I love bright colours and boldly patterned prints and I just couldn't walk past this top and not at least try it on.  The rest, as they say, is history.
Cold shoulder floral top, black skinny jeans, red shoes
Made of a smooth fabric with a white oriental flower motif print all over and with a ruffle detail around the cold shoulder, there was nothing that I didn't like about it.

Moreover, what is so great about this blouse is that, while being a major trend this season, it is still so versatile that it will look great paired with great basics from my capsule wardrobe collection (read about it here) for the evening as well as with a pair of skinny jeans for an every day look like today.

I am wearing it with my new black skinny jeans and quite an old pair of red shoes for the pure joy of the colour impact however, if I am pairing it with something more elegant, I would choose shoes in a less obvious colour, black or nude should look nice.

WHO SAYS RED AND GREEN SHOULD NOT BE SEEN?

What I love about fashion blogging is the sharing of ideas, styles, fashion news and inspirations with other fashionable women that enriches and inspires me in so many ways, gives me confidence and brings a sense of feeling great about myself which brings me to the topic of today's blog.

There was not one but two bloggers that inspired me to share this outfit with you.
"
WHO SAYS RED AND GREEN SHOULD NOT BE SEEN?
"
Let me tell you about inspiration number one. A while ago Jacqui from Mummabstylish  shared with us a post where she was wearing cargo pants that she paired with red shoes.  I left a comment saying that I love that look and that since I also have a pair of similar pants and a pair of red shoes and a matching handbag, I might copy her look and she gave me her blessing.

There is a scientific explanation why we love this colour combination so much, just think Christmas decorations for example.

If you look at the colour wheel which is a visual representation of colours according to their chromatic relations, you will see that the red and green are sitting right opposite each other and therefore called complimentary colours.

Since red and green are both strong colours, I didn't want to add any more colours to my outfit and thus chose the colour of my top from the same family of green just with a slightly different shade.  Keeping my accessories simple (except the handbag), I selected a pendant in buffalo horn from Hermes, suspended on an adjustable leather cord.

This pendant is very special to me, it was given to me by my older daughter on my 45th birthday.  She was a student back then, so I can imagine how difficult it must have been for her to afford such a beautiful gift.

The second contributor that inspired me to wear this outfit was a comment made by Sheela from Sheela Writes about a floral long shirt dress from Marks & Spencer (you can read a full story about this collaboration here).  She wrote (no pun intended) that she would wear this dress as a light coat over skinny jeans and a simple top.

It all happened a while ago and I  haven't had a chance to replicate Jacqui's look or implement Sheela's idea until last week I was asked if I can re-style one of the outfits of my recent collaboration between Marks & Spencer and Shopping Links and all of a sudden the light went on in my head and all the pieces suddenly came together and an outfit was born.

BLACK, READ AND BLUE - CHAMBRAY COAT (LOOK #2)

Hi everyone,

Previously on Looking Fabulous @ 50 I was showing you my new chambray dress that I wore it as a coat over my summer outfit of cropped linen pants and a tee (Look #1).  However, lately I discovered that it looks as good with darker, heavier fabrics which means a few extra outfit combos.
Someone made an interesting observation the other day: "Weekends are precious, "Two glorious days devoid of responsibility and overflowing with possibility". My sentiment entirely provided that I know or at least have a slightest idea of what u want to do, where I would like to go, what would I want to see and what kind of food I feel like eating, otherwise I am in tatters and every member of my household is keeping as far away from me as it is physically possible.

I don’t think I have ever been spontaneous, I belong to a group of people who like to plan their holidays, meals and weekends well in advance. I can’t just wake up on a Saturday morning not knowing what to do and just “go with the flow” and it definitely does not work for me when someone suggests that I should just "veg”, I need to be somewhere doing something. Could it be that I am suffering from some kind of FOMO syndrome?
Anyhow, that how I was feeling last Saturday. We didn’t have any plans for the day, there was nothing to see at the movies and I couldn’t make up my mind about what I would like to have for lunch and so my husband suggested that we should get dressed and get out of the house and be spontaneous. Besides, we had no food in a house so we were forced to go out to eat anyway. So as you can imagine, it didn’t go very will with me and thus my mood remained in the dark.

Studies show that our outfit choices are made to reflect the mood we are in at the moment and my clothes on that Saturday morning was a living proof of this statement – black pants, black jumper, and black shoes and, you guessed it, black coat. Of course, the situation was not that bad, I guess I was a bit of drama queen but we are allowed to act like one sometimes, right?
Then the phone rang, did I hear someone just said "saved by the bell"? It was a dear friend of ours who just returned from the trip interstate asking us to join him and his latest lady-friend for lunch at the local bistro. Had it been someone else, I would’ve said “no” but I was very curious to meet his latest conquest, besides spending time with him is always a lot of fun. Oh well, that changed everything, almost. My mood immediately soared and so should my outfit.
Since I was already dressed, I didn’t want to change my clothes, however I was well aware that my look was quite sombre and in dire need of injection of some fun. And what could be an easier way of doing it? By wearing some bold and colourful accessories, what else?
Few years ago my daughter, knowing my penchant for statement pieces of jewellery, brought me a very funky multi-coloured necklace that was exactly what I needed. Its brightly coloured pieces looked even more strikingly against my black Cos jumper. Ever since this brand has opened its doors in my local shopping centre few months ago, I’ve become a regular visitor to it. I already bought a dress that I find myself wearing quite often (worn here) and this jumper is my latest acquisition.
But I didn’t stop there. Some people say less is more and some, others, like the stylist to the celebrities Rachel Zoe for example, say more is more. Today was the day for the latter. I discarded my black shoes and handbag and instead put on lace up flats in red patent leather that I bought many years ago at Gallery Lafayette in Paris and added a matching colour LV bag.
When I checked my outfit in the mirror, I thought the pants looked rather long, so I rolled up the cuffs and that added a relaxed feel to my outfit. Once again, my new chambray coat came as a perfect addition to my casual look.

Needless to say, to my husband’s greatest relief, I left home with a big smile on my face and, as I hoped, the four of us had a ball.
The moral of the story:  take it easy, go with the flow and be spontaneous.

THREE WAYS WITH SHELL TOP AND DENIMS

Sometime around September last year (the eve of the Antipodean summer), I was looking I was looking for a simple top that I could wear with my denim shorts when I am off to the beach or just popping into local shops, nothing fancy. Browsing the racks of my local Sportsgirl shop one day, a printed shell top caught my eye.  It looked great with my ripped denim shirts and I wore it quite often during the summer months.

But once the temperature began to drop and shorts were packed away till next summer, I started experimenting with my autumn clothes to see if the top could be incorporated into my cool wardrobe and thus would serve me for few more weeks.

As it turned out, not only it looked great with my dark denims and flats during the day, but once I put a blazer over it, replace the accessories, put on killer hills and a grab one of my fashionable handbags, it was immediately transferred from a simple casual good for beach top into an integral part of a smart looking ensemble fit for an office or a dinner party.
